Kate was inspired to raise funds to support those with “this horrible disease”, known as Cancer.  Three of her cousins have been impacted, including ThymicUK member Sarah Crone.

In addition to having her beautifully long hair shaved off, Katie organised a fun day in the local Plough.  There was face painting, glitter tattoos, hair braiding, tombolas, a bake sale, and big ticket raffle prizes. Money was also collected for Macmillan in a collection bucket.

Kate generously and kindly donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children fighting cancer or other conditions causing hair loss.

Katie said: “Cancer is affecting more and more people, younger people, and it doesn’t discriminate.

“But we can’t let it bog us down with fear. We can do something good by raising as much money as possible.”

In Kate’s words:

“I want to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated and everyone who came along to the event, despite the last-minute change of venue it was a roaring success!”
