ThymicUK becomes a registered charity!

ThymicUK becomes a registered charity!

We have some fantastic news to share with you all.

ThymicUK is now a registered charity in England and Wales and is listed on the Charity Commission register (charity number 1193092).

We have been working hard behind the scenes over the last year and are extremely proud to have achieved this status. Our hope is that becoming a registered charity will give us greater leverage to put our aims into action (Our Aims – ThymicUK).

Since our beginnings as a patient support group we have established strong links with the British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) and key thymic cancer specialists. BTOG is formally establishing a multi-disciplinary sub-committee to improve the awareness and treatment of thymic cancers. ThymicUK will join the sub-committee as required, representing the perspectives of patients. The sub-committee has provisionally agreed to seek to establish national guidance for the assessment and treatment of thymic cancers.

Some of you will recall from our earlier meetings, one of our primary goals has been to establish a patient database that will enable researchers to identify patterns for a much-needed better understanding of thymic cancers and their treatment. This would be a massive step forward.

The team has worked hard giving up their time to get us to this stage. We are very happy to announce our newly appointed trustees of the charity ThymicUK: Karen, Heidrun, Marrika and Oliver.

Whilst we are at the beginning of our journey as a patient group and now as a UK registered charity, we believe we have already and will continue to make a difference to patients with thymic cancers.

If you feel you would like to make a donation to support the work of ThymicUK, that would be wonderful. We are just waiting for our charity bank account details to be finalised and in due course we will activate the Donate Now button on our website.
