On behalf of ThymicUK Ruth Priestley and Heidrun Bien attended the British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) annual conference which took place in Dublin in January 2019. It is a conference in which doctors, nurses, advocates, and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry (850+ people) come together to discuss research and developments in the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic cancers. BTOG also had a specific session on Thymoma which only takes place about once every three years. Dr Gilligan, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Addenbrooke’s and Royal Papworth Hospitals in Cambridge and Associate Lecturer, University of Cambridge gave a presentation on the oncological management of thymic malignancies. Dr Gilligan also talked about this group to the BTOG conference members. We were able to meet and talk to other specialists and to representatives of other patient groups.
