I was diagnosed with two thymomas between the lung and heart following a routine chest X-ray in August 2012.
I was incredibly lucky, it was operable, though serious. I was admitted within 10 days of the initial X-ray and operated on virtually immediately.
The team at Guys were simply the best, the surgeon and his team did such a good job that I didn’t need radio or chemo follow up afterwards, although healing was
long and difficult at times.
The support I have had from Guys has been exceptional, and I have been scanned and/or x rayed bi-annually over the past 9 years, thankfully with no sign of recurrence.
I realise that others may not be as lucky as me. They have my sincere best wishes, whatever their personal situation, but I would say to them that there is nowhere on the planet that can give them better care and treatment than Guys.
